20 things I learned in my 20’s. So far….

This is a bit of a weird one because I am only 27 this year so my 20’s haven’t run away from me just yet.

However what I know now, well I wish I could tell my 19 year old self a few things.

1. You are okay. Your body is beautiful, don’t hate on it. When I was a teenager I admit it I was judgey, that’s not a word but whatever. I judged myself and others and worst of all myself against others. Urgh don’t do that…

2. Appreciate the silence. I used to hate the quiet, surrounding myself with other people or rushing around. In my 20’s I have definitely mastered the art of alone time. It’s good for my soul.

3. To cope better. I don’t know wether it was hormones or what but in my 20’s, I have learnt to cope better. I used to fly into a rage over anything from dropping something to the washing up. It sounds ridiculous now. Coping strategies on a bad day are a wonderful thing.

4. Less is more. In my 20’s I have adopted the mantra less is more. I used to wear so much more make up, more fake tan, fake eyelashes, liquid eyeliner every god damn day. How exhausting…

5. Learning to be kinder. Sounds weird I know I’ve always been kind but as I’ve grown up I’ve become kinder, less self satisfied and open to thinking about others before myself.

6. Embrace my flaws. Accept that I can over reacted or act spoiled or be selfish sometimes I know this seems contradictory to the last point but no ones perfect. Right?

7. Don’t romanticise every one else’s life. I used to compare my love life or work life to everyone else’s when I was younger. Probably because I wasn’t very happy. I’m happy now so I don’t think I look for reasons to analyse it so much.

8. Take my make up off properly. No explanation needed is there? Haha. I used to use a face wipe and that was it. I know, I know don’t light your torches to burn me at the stake. I do it properly now. Remove, cleanse, tone. Like a good girl…

9. Wear decent shoes. Bit of an odd one but in my 20’s I wore awful, uncomfortable shoes that ruined my feet. I worked on my feet for 49 hours a week when I was a kid and now I know better to wear shoes that won’t make my feet look like claws.

10. Dress for the body you have. I used to wish I was skinnier, smaller boobs, rounder bum etc and I used to try and dress like I did. One word, hideous. Now I dress to my size, I accept the fact I have huge knockers. I quite like them now.

11. Don’t date dickheads. Haha. I am very happy with James, we have been together for 4 years this year or 5. We don’t have an anniversary. However when I was younger, I went out with some right dickheads, self obsessed boys, one who was a mind fuck and one who didn’t appreciate me. At all. But hey ho, you live you learn.

12. Get enough sleep. I am less grumpy, I am smarter, my skin is better. Long gone are the days of 4 nights drinking with 12 hours sleep working all week and fitting in Uni. No thanks…

13. See previous point. Don’t drink 7 red bulls a day. Need I say more.

14. Healthy body, healthy mind. I am in no way a clean eater. I eat dominoes and crisps and chocolate and drink sugary lattes. However I do drink lots of water, green tea, exercise a bit, get fresh air. It’s better for my brain.

15. Hope you’re not bored yet? Save money. Yawn! You never know when your car is going to break down or you need an expensive filling. I know grown up boring stuff.

16. Appreciate your friends. I have a few friends I can count on one hand who are real friends. Not bitchy or judgemental girls, girls who give you back handed compliments or girls who pretend they are looking out for you.

Here’s some friends ❤️

17. Make memories. I used to waste my weekends, don’t get me wrong I have some fab hungover memories. Friends and I used to have a Sunday club where we would tell tales of drunken nights before. In my 20’s I have learnt to make memories that mean something to me. That mean more, sunny days filled with holding hands and long walks. Laughing till my sides hurt at James’ jokes. Soppy I know.

18. Appreciate your family. How I used to moan at my mum interfering or my nan moaning I don’t see her enough. Now I appreciate my mum more than ever and wish my nan was still here for cups of tea and chin wags under the tree in the garden…

19. Work hard. Well, duh I hear you saying but when I was a teenager I didn’t. I coasted, hoping I would do okay. I did do okay, I graduated with a 2:1 and I am in a job I quite enjoy but I can’t help wondering what if I worked a bit harder. So now I do, I work to my full potential as best I can.

20. Last one, don’t take it all too seriously. I never want to be the girl who was too grown up. Too grown up for an all day cocktail session, or to ride the scariest ride or to walk and walk just to get lost. To dance round the kitchen with James and laugh at his fart jokes. Just have fun, coz before I know it, I will be 30 writing a list again just like this one….

I hope you enjoyed my 20 things I learned when I was 20. I really enjoyed writing it.

Leave me your comments and links, I love reading them!

Infinity Dreams Award 🌟💫

Hello you lovely lot….

Well huge thank you to Annie; click her name, read the blog, she’s amazing!, for the tag that created this post. I must be doing something right here or not? Or i’m drunk, who cares 🙂 I feel good…

Anyway, here’s how we get started:

So the rules are as easy as 1 2 3 or 5…
  • Thank the person who tagged you for this award
  • give us 11 facts about you.
  • answer 11 questions the blogger who tagged you asked.
  • make 11 questions for the bloggers you going to tag.
  • And tag other bloggers.

1. I love gin, you may have got that reading my bio on twitter. I discovered it when I started attending the Gin Festival in my previous job. It’s amazing! Don’t worry I’m not some sort of of drunken lush (well, maybe a lil bit)

2. I am so clumsy and messy. I could trip over thin air, I think I have once actually. Also, I cannot I repeat cannot go for a meal without spilling something down myself! Hence the name of my blog – never wears white. I sometimes do wear white so that’s a lie but I shouldn’t because I’m always returning home with some bbq sauce on my top or jeans. I’m such a catch haha.

3. I sleep with one arm/hand over my eyes and forehead like a princess or a damsel in distress pose. Weird…

4. I sing Disney songs in my head, ALL THE TIME. I know I’m 27 it’s sad but when is it not the right time to sing ‘I just can’t wait to be king’ ?

5. My favourite place in the whole world is sitting on my sofa with James, really sad I know but all that warm good stuff is delightfully addictive.

6. I love fish and chips and mushy peas. I live near quite a few of coastal towns in Kent, so cold beaches and hot chips. Yum!

7. I have really weird, short eyelashes that stick out straight. I’ve tried everything, curling them, the newest super duper mascara. Nothing works. Ah well.

8. I have really frizzy hair, not cute curly. Frizzy. Like hair bear bunch frizzy. If you are too young to remember this cartoon, google it. It’s ace 🙂

9. I need all the affection all the time, this might sound needy but I promise it’s not. James is used to it now, I am a really affectionate person, even new people get kisses on cheeks and hugs on departure. Don’t be weirded out just embrace it…

10. I love a bath, I could be in there for hours. It’s so relaxing especially after a hard day just shut the door and forget the noise.

11. I am a bit of a class clown, a day dreamer and all round mess when it comes to life. I don’t concentrate at the best of times, I have my head in the clouds which is probs why I trip over my own feet and I would forget my head if it wasn’t attached with bone, muscle and tissue. Gross. But, in the wise words of a man I started loving 4 years ago. who wants to be normal anyway?

So there you go that’s all about me. Here are the questions from Annie

1. How did you start blogging?

I started when I was at Uni actually I used to write bits and pieces when I was there, then when I left I sort of forgot about it. When I was made redundant a year ago I started up Never Wears White.

2. Who is the most important person in your life?

I should say my mum, but she gets enough credit for me, that’s a joke btw. I would say James, we live together now, starting a whole life together and he totally balances me out. I am a much calmer, thoughtful person since meeting him. Naww, shucks!

3. What music do you listen to?

As mentioned before Disney (cringe) anything and everything really. I have a lot of complilation CD’s in my car (so old school) from old garage to a Magic FM CD. Variety is the spice of life, no?

4. Is there any life advices or tips you have learned in the last year?

Just be you! I think everyone starts out thinking what do people want to/like to read? After a while I spoke to another blogger who just said write what you want, let your personality do the talking and the other stuff writes itself. So she was spot on.

5. What’s your plans for this summer?

Not an awful lot, unfortunately. We are saving to buy a house so any extra pennies are well and truly in the bank. I do have a few weekends away booked and a festival to go to, relive my teens and all that.

6. If you could go anywhere in the world for  a month, where would you go?

I would go to New York! It’s my favourite place in the world, I got to visit a lot when I was younger, my late uncle used to live there.

7. What book are you reading currently or what was the last one you read?

I am currently reading Girl on the Net’s book ‘How A Bad Girl Fell In Love’ She is an awesome feminist and sex blogger. She is amazing, the book is raunchy so not for the prudish but really well written and very emotional.

8. Tell me some funny story from your life.

Well when I was about 15, we were on a school trip in the South of France. We were on like an adventure trip or something, I don’t remember. Anyway me and my best friend were canoeing down the rapids and she was doing all the work I was sunbathing and smoking, looking cool, in the back of the canoe. We tipped over a bit, my fault, I was meant to be the rudder or whatever. We lost all our stuff in the little waterproof caddy, meanwhile our best boy mates were getting involved in some sort of arguement with a French man canoeing next to us. We all capsized washed up with our canoes, soggy cigarettes with a very unimpressed head of year standing over us back at base camp. We were all in stiches and it still makles me smile at the memory today.

9. Is there anyone who inspires you to keep doing what you’re doing? Like blogging or studying for your dream profession!

I think anyone who is doing what they love and following their dreams is an inspiration. Too many to mention here, I do admire someone I started following a long time ago and that’s Meg at Wonderful You

10.What’s your goals for September?

Just to keep on saving with James and building our little life together and to grow my little blog 😁

11. How is 2016 treating you so far?

Really good, I have had a few years where I lost a job, a few close people to me and lost a bit of love for my life. But cheesy as that sounds I’m getting it back. Yay me!

Phew! If you stuck with my ramblings, go you!

My questions for you lovely lot are:

April Blogger Beauty Box…

If this doesn’t cheer you up on a Monday nothing will, look at all of these gorgeous products.

I know, I know I’m slacking. Only just getting round to writing about my April Blogger Beauty Box but it was worth me waiting and trying some of these lovely bits.

The full size products I received were:

TOTM time of the month, organic cotton tampons. I was so pleased with these, I really had never thought of having organic tampons and I never though of how much stuff they put on my usual tampons, like bleach? Ergh!

I haven’t had chance to use them yet, thank god, but I am really intrigued. I love the fact they are organic, hypo allergenic and biodegradable. All plus points to me.

Next up was the Tropic, Sun Drops. It contains wonderful natural ingredients like passion fruit extract and vitamin e. I have used this twice now, mixing two or three drops into my normal moisturiser. I have started to see a bit of a difference, my skin defo has a new glow to it.

Third up is the Witch, daily primer & clearing serum. I must admit I have used this product before but I was overjoyed with receiving it in this box as it reminded me why I used to use it.

Which hazel and vitamin b loves my skin and my skin loves it right back!

The last full size product in this beautiful box is 1001 Remedies, Magic Skin. The ingredients in this repair gel are meant to soothe, cool and act as an anti-inflammatory.

You use it locally on the skin, apply it to imperfections and it claims to regenerate the skin. I am using from tonight and hoping it will reduce my blemishes and some of my redness. I’ll keep you posted…

The sample sized products I received were:

Make up geek, blush pan in Infactuation. I love  this shade it gives me a great sun kissed glow, it matches my skin tone okay it would usually be a bit dark for me but as I am self tanning all the time at the mo it is a good shade.

Next was the MeruMaya Mud Marvels Mask, with activated charcoal it is meant to extract toxins and deep cleanse your skin. I used this last night and it left my skin feeling smoother and brighter.

The texture is great and I will defo be purchasing a full sized bottle.

Last up is the Become Maya styling hair cremé, this sample of gold dust is gorgeous. It feels so silky smooth I can’t wait to try it on my hair.

I have an exhibition and dinner/drinks on Wednesday in London where I will be curling my hair so I will see if it can tame my frizz then!

I hope you enjoyed reading about this Beauty Blogger box as much as I enjoyed receiving it.

You can find all of the products by clicking the links.

Why not try a blogger beauty box yourself, I know I will be re-purchasing!

I hope you enjoyed this post, please leave your comments, I love reading them 😊

Day 6 – Nature Photography Challenge 🌼🌷

My happy place…

My day 6 snap is a stitched photo of my Nanna Pat and Grandpa Bill’s garden. They live 10 minutes from me and James which I love.

This garden really is my happy place, I spent a lot of time at my nan and grandpa’s growing up and so many hours running around and helping in this garden.

It’s my grandpas pride and joy and you can see why, it’s a beautiful space. Filled with tulips and daffodils in the spring then pansies and forget me nots in the winter.

Plus, they have an awesome pond! Which I may or may not have pushed my little brother in a few times 😁

I hope you like this special photo close to my heart….

Have you got a happy place like this? I would love to hear from you!

Day 5 – Nature Photography Challenge 👗👠

Work work work work work…

Here we are my lovely lot, day 4 of my nature photo challenge and I wanted to share with you a couple of pics I took today.

I am so lucky to live in Kent, it really does live up to its name ‘The garden of England’

To explain the first line – no I’m not nuts 😂, this is where I work, well the field next to my office.

The company I work for have ownership of this lovely bit of land and the maintenance guy has kindly put some picnic benches out so we can have lunch out here sometimes.

So here you are, my nature photo’s for today. Look at those daisies 😍

I should not have worn tights today 😫 I had to take my shoes off, excuse the bobbley tights haha.

I hope you enjoyed these photos, is it beautiful where you work? Or if not, anywhere you escape to on lunch? Show me your snaps!

Day 4 – Nature Photography Challenge 🌊🌊

If you like fish and chips on the beach and wind swept walks, you’ve come to the right place!

Two of my favourite seaside towns in Kent and I live about half hour, 40 minutes from both of my featured places, Ramsgate and Broadstairs, I count myself very lucky to be so close to both.

Ramsgate holds a special place in my heart because James and I have had the best weekends there and eaten at our fave fish and chip place Peters fish factory. Big shout out 🙌🏼

Broadstairs was a childhood destination but I still visit from time to time. We love it there, the pebbles on the beach, the windswept walks and ice cream right on the sea front plus arcades what more could you want?

So here are some treasured pics from these seaside settings…

So these are my favourite seaside towns. If you have a local one what’s yours?

Hope your enjoying my nature photography challenge, let me know what you think of my snaps.
